Halloween Scrapbook Pages

Welcome back to another Scrapbook Whimsical Wednesday.
For the challenge today the Whimsical Wizards have created a Halloween scrapbook page and have incorporated a technique with instructions. Your challenge is to create a Halloween scrapbook page and incorporate one of the Whimsical Wizards techniques you have learned. Please include in your post who's technique you used. Our fellow DT member Chloe came up with this super fun idea.
First I will be showing you my layout and then I will show my technique. (This post is very picture heavy.)

Here is page 1 of my 8.5 x 11 double layout.
For this page I used the Cricut Cartridge "Happy Hauntings" to cut out the title, vampire, and bat. The blood was made using Martha Stewart's "Drippy Goo" punch and then I added "Glossy Accents" to make it stand out. The bat border came from "Ek Success". The coffin was cut from the Cricut "Paper Doll Dress Up" cartridge and will be used for journaling.

Here is page 2.
On this page the zombie, headstones, and title were also cut from the Cricut "Happy Hauntings". The moon was cut with a 2" circle punch and the bats are from the "Ek Success" punch and cut apart. To make the dirt I used crinkle ribbon from Prairie Bird Boutique.
I love how fun and amazing this ribbon is to work with and she has so many wonderful bundles to choose from.

Here are both of my 2 page Layout. For my technique I chose to use heat embossing on my pattern paper.
The following pictures will show how I did that.

Here are the supplies you will need. (Not pictured is a dryer sheet or "embossing buddy".)
1.) Heat tool. You can get one Here. 2.) Embossing pen. You can Get one Here. 3.) Embossing Powder. You can get the kind I use Here. (color "Kaleidoscope Transparent") 4.) Dryer sheet Optional. I chose not to use one since I like the added sparkle on the page.

Step 1 - Rub dryer sheet over the page to get out static.
Step 2- With embossing pen color over the images you want to emboss.
(I chose the moons.)

Step 3- Dump embossing powder over the images you colored over with the embossing pen.
Step 4- Shake off the excess embossing powder and place back in the container.

Step 5- Use heat to to seal the embossing powder.

Here is the final product. As you can see in the photo if you don't use something to get the static out of the paper the embossing powder will cling to other parts then the ones you placed the embossing ink on but as I stated before for me, on this project, that was ok.

I hope you enjoyed my project.

Our wonderful sponsor this week is The Prairie Bird Boutique. One random winner will get to pick out their own bundle of Shabby Crinkle Ribbon.

  6. LOVE this layout Star. I love how all your work is always so visually balanced. Perfect the way you chose only the moons to emboss, it really makes that paper come alive. Love all the cuts you chose, too. So spooky fun and great minds think alike, I used the crinkle ribbon for grass/ground too! It's just perfect as dirt, though! Thank so much for sharing your wizardry with all of us. x

  7. Darling double layout Star! I guess I am going to have to get that Happy Haunting cartridge one of these days - too many cute images. Embossing is something I have not done a lot of but I love the look. Thanks for the tutorial!

  12. FABULOUS!!!! I absolutely LOVE that you used the crinkle ribbon for the ground. It is genius and looks perfect. I also love your tip! I have a watermark pen that I absolutely LOVE but it doesn't let you emboss with it. I will definitely have to look into this one. Thanks for the link. Hugs- Glora
